How do we regenerate our city centre?
Broadmead stands at a turning point.
Once the commercial heart of Bristol, it now faces profound questions about retail, housing, climate resilience and community as our city centres shape up for a new future. So how does this much-loved, oft-maligned centre get its mojo back? What would you prioritise? How can we intervene?
Join us for a strategic discussion on the future of Broadmead and the next phase of collaborative place-shaping across Bristol’s City Centre.
The session brings together key partners including BCC Regeneration and Economic Development Teams, Hammerson, Bristol BID, Arts & Culture, Visit West & elected members working across the centre of Bristol.
In 2025 Central Ward Councillors Sibusiso Tshabalala and Ani Townsend allocated £625,000 to support foundational interventions in the area. Building on this commitment, the council are now working with partners to shape a programme of potential initiatives for 2027.
Professionals & public audiences welcome. Your insights as practitioners in planning, development, design, urban management, and as users of the space will be essential in shaping this next stage.
The session will also include an update from Bristol City Council on new approaches to coordinating city‑centre activation, programming, and public‑realm initiatives to ensure alignment across teams and partners.
6 O’Clock Sessions:
Imagine a place where public, politicians and professionals come together to debate the future of our cities. The 6 O’Clock Sessions are home to informed civic debate – topical discussion with a twist. These sessions are participatory in nature – different opinions are welcome, heard and respectfully challenged. Just the tonic for our polarised times. Everyone welcome.
