FROM CORNWALL TO QINGDAO

Join us for a rare insight into the designs for Eden Project International. New projects are being developed across the UK & on every inhabited continent of the world as a global response to the planetary emergency.

The original Eden Project opened in south Cornwall in 2001, built into an old china clay pit & transforming the area into a global garden & visitor attraction. It features the largest rainforest in captivity & a Mediterranean landscape, captured within huge, bubble-like greenhouses (biomes) set in temperate gardens.

Hear Lead Architect Jolyon Brewis & Landscape Architect Jane Knight talk about plans for the New Edens, including:

Eden Project North re-imagines Morecambe as a seaside resort for the 21st Century, inspiring wonder & a connection with the natural world drawing on the Eden Project’s focus on education, ecology & community.

Eden Project Qingdao, China was the first Eden Project to be announced outside Cornwall. It will be themed around water, showing that it is the lifeblood of nature, culture & civilisation. Highlights will include the largest indoor rainforest in the world as well as world-class water gardens, both indoors & outdoors.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

Jolyon Brewis is lead architect for Eden from Grimshaw Architects. His expertise in large-scale super-efficient enclosures is typified by his work on the Eden Project Biomes. He has gone on to design schemes for Eden Project destinations in China & Australia, & is leading the concepts for the Heathrow Expansion.

Jolyon’s building designs skilfully combine a wide range of influences. The efficiency of natural forms has inspired a number of buildings for Eden Project & NIRAH. Jolyon’s enjoyment of collaboration is demonstrated by his work on The Core at Eden Project & The Laboratory at Dulwich College, on which he collaborated with the sculptor Peter Randall-Page RA.

Jane Knight is a key member of Eden Project International Limited (EPIL) creative development and project delivery team.  She is a professional landscape architect with more than thirty years’ experience gained working in multi-disciplinary teams in the public and private sectors in UK, USA, Australia and Hong Kong where she has worked on many high impact projects.

Jane has worked at Eden Project Cornwall since 2002 and is now responsible for landscape design and development across Eden’s international portfolio and consultancy work which includes projects on nearly every continent.  She has an overview of Eden Project Cornwall’s specialist horticulture and operations and brings this experience to EPIL projects.

We want to be a provocation – a gentle propagation that is not political, to show new ways to live in harmony with our natural world.
